Birganj. Dry Port Customs Office Birgunj has collected revenue of Rs.40 billion three crore 83 lakh 38 thousand in 10 months of the current financial year

Dr. Ramprasad Mainali, head of the dry port customs office, said that due to the slowdown in the overall market in the current financial year, the revenue collection was not relatively high. “Now the market of the entire country has slowed down”, he said, “after the demand decreased, the import also automatically decreased.” The Customs Department had given the office a target of collecting Rs 54 billion 27 crore 21 lakh 35 thousand revenue during the 10 months of the current year, but the office has collected Rs 40 billion 3 crore in the 10 month period.
According to Chief Customs Officer Mainali, all the goods will be transported by cargo train at the dry port. In the past, three cargo trains used to arrive every day, but now two are used. Cargo trains bring 60 containers at a time.
Although the Customs Department has set a target of Rs 65.94 billion, 122,000 revenue for the office in the current year, it is said that the office will collect only 70 percent of the target in the current year. Chief Customs Officer Mainali said that in the current year, the revenue collection has also decreased due to the low import of iron blades and liquor. “Especially industrial raw materials are imported here, but compared to the past, industrial raw materials have not been imported this year”, he said, “even when the summer season starts, the import of AC and umbrellas has not increased. In the past, the import of AC and umbrellas was high during this season.” This year, the import of AC and umbrellas has also not increased.”
In the month of July of the current year, the office collected a revenue of Rs. 4.7 billion. It collected Rs 4.57 billion in August and Rs 4.46 billion in October. The said office collected revenue of Rs 3.63 billion in November, Rs 4.28 billion in November, and Rs 3.75 billion in January. The office said that it has collected revenue of Rs 3.74 billion in January, Rs 3.62 billion in February, Rs 4.28 billion in March and Rs 3.58 billion in May.
The Customs Department had given the office a target of Rs 67.43 crore 86 lakh 94 thousand revenue collection in the last year, but the said office had collected only Rs 42.40 crore 22 lakh 93 thousand rupees.
