President's order to release jailed former Prime Minister Zia

Kathmandu. The coordinators of the ‘Student Movement Against Discrimination’ in Bangladesh have said that the interim government should be headed by Nobel Prize winner Muhammad Yunus. They have also prepared a blueprint for the interim government. In a video message released at 4:30 a.m. local time, the coordinators of the movement, Nahid Islam, Asif Mahmud and Abu Bakar Mazumdar, said that a complete blueprint of the interim government would be prepared within the next 24 hours.
Even after the resignation of Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and leaving the country, the protests and violence continued throughout the night. Earlier last night, President Mohammad Shahabuddin had given his permission to form an interim government.
According to the Bangladeshi media, the decision was taken at the Rashtrapati Bhavan after a discussion with representatives of the Army, Navy, Air Force, various political parties and society. After Sheikh Hasina left the country, the responsibility of ensuring peace, security and law enforcement has been given to the army for the time being.
Earlier, Chief of Army Staff Waqar Uj Zaman assured that justice will be done in all cases of repression and those who were killed during the protest. Zaman said that he would soon hold talks with the representatives of the protesting students and teachers. A few hours after Hasina fled abroad, President Shahabuddin ordered the release of the jailed former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia and all the students who were detained during the protest.
