Kathmandu. Nepal Under-19 women’s cricket team has entered the Super Four of the ACC Under-19 Women’s Asia Cup cricket one match ahead of schedule. Nepal secured a place in the Super Four by defeating Pakistan Under-19 team by 6 wickets in its first match of the ongoing tournament in Malaysia.
Captain Pooja Mahato gave a brilliant all-round performance in Nepal’s victory. The Nepali youth team shocked Pakistan in its first encounter with them.
Batting first after winning the toss, Pakistan scored 104 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Komal Khan scored the highest score for Pakistan with 38 runs. She hit 2 fours in 44 balls. Maham Anis scored 29 and Ravel Farhan scored 13 runs. For Nepal, captain Pooja took 2 wickets and Rachana Chaudhary, Riya Sharma and Seemana KC took 1 wicket each.
In reply, Nepal achieved the target of 105 runs in 19 overs for the loss of 4 wickets. San Prabin contributed 10 runs, Savitri Dhami 8 and Soni Pakhrin 13 runs in Nepal’s victory. Pooja remained unbeaten with a top score of 47 runs in 47 balls, including 3 fours. Seemana KC scored 12 runs. Fatima Khan and Quratulan took 1 wicket each for Pakistan. With this, Pakistan has been eliminated from the tournament with its second consecutive defeat. Pakistan was defeated by India in the first match. The match between Nepal and India, which entered the Super Four a game earlier, will be played tomorrow.
