Amazon Web Services, AWS will invest around one lakh five thousand crore rupees by 2030 on cloud-related infrastructure in India. The company is making this investment to meet the growing demand of customers for cloud services. Amazon’s Cloud Computing Unit said this in a statement released today. With this, Amazon’s total investment in India by 2030 is estimated to reach over one lakh 36 thousand lakh crore rupees.
The company said, the investment in data center infrastructure is expected to create an average of over one lakh 31 thousand full-time jobs annually in the Indian business. According to the statement, the jobs that will be created by this investment include sectors like construction, engineering, telecommunications, and others.
AWS is a subsidiary of Amazon, which provides a cloud computing platform on demand to individuals, companies, and governments.
The proposed investment comes as India steps up efforts to attract more big-ticket investments. Chief Executive Officer of AWS, Adam Selipsky said, India is an incredibly energized, high-growth market.
Earlier this month, Cisco Systems also announced that it will begin manufacturing in India to diversify its global supply chain, while Apple Inc supplier Foxconn will invest 500 million dollars to establish operations in Telangana.
