Kathmandu. Nepal Engineering College, operating since 1994, has an important role in the development of engineering education in Nepal. The college is located in Changunarayan Bhaktapur, which has a peaceful and green environment away from the city noise and pollution. In this college, studies and teaching are held at the undergraduate and postgraduate level of engineering. Established as a non-profit social educational institution, the college has been giving out more than 100 million worth of scholarships every year.
Quality education is the specialty of Nepal Engineering College. Nepal Engineering College, which is known as one of the best colleges affiliated to Pokhara University, has embraced the experimental teaching method with priority, claims Associate Professor Durga Prasad Bhandari, acting principal of the college. In addition, the college has collaborated with prestigious colleges and universities in Europe, Australia, and Japan for student and faculty exchange programs to give international exposure to the students. “We have provided the facility of international exposure to the students studying here. Every year, students are sent to study in the best colleges of the world including Europe, Japan on full scholarship.” says the acting principal Bhandari.
The college has arranged full-time faculties so that students can ask their academic problems to the faculties at any time. Students should be able to raise questions and problems with their teachers at any time. Only he can get the knowledge he wants. We have about 90 percent, i.e. more than 120 experienced teachers. Acting Principal Bhandari said.
Another attraction is the scholarship given by the college. Along with the 10% student scholarship provided by Pokhara University, the college has been giving scholarships to about 100 students in different fields every year. According to the Acting Principal Bhandari, the college is providing scholarships to the children of local citizens through Changunarayan municipality to give them an opportunity in engineering education.
There are various scholarships in the college including college management board scholarship, regional scholarship, entrance exam excellent scholarship. Apart from this, scholarships have also been provided to semester toppers and others. We have given maximum scholarships so that everyone has access to engineering education. When it comes to fees, we are charging very little compared to other colleges.” says Acting Principal Bhandari.
Reaching the thirtieth year of its establishment, tens of thousands of skilled manpower have been produced from the college. The skilled manpower produced by the college is now not only working in high positions of the Nepal government, private and non-governmental organizations, but also working in prestigious colleges, universities and professional institutions in different countries of the world. The Nepal Engineering Council, which monitors and regulates engineering colleges, has given a permanent certificate since the college has always been emphasizing on quality education since its inception till today. The council has been giving permanent and temporary certificates by monitoring the educational, physical and administrative aspects of the engineering colleges. Only some committee engineering colleges including Nepal Engineering College, Pulchok Campus have permanent certificate.
Lately, Nepal Engineering College has been operating through the operating committee formed by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology. After Lambodar Neupan, one of the former directors of the college, tried to create a single property by embezzling crores of assets of the college, the government formed a new board of directors to save the college with the future of thousands of students, teachers and employees.
Civil engineering, civil and ruler engineering, computer science engineering, electrical and electronics engineering, electronics and communication engineering and V.E. Civil for diploma holders are taught.
