Kathmandu. At least 50 pilgrims have been killed in a stampede at a religious fair in India’s Uttar Pradesh. The incident took place on Tuesday during a satsang program held in Hathras district of Uttar Pradesh. Ashish Kumar, the local official of Hathras, said that the initial information that 50 to 60 people had died.
Most of the women and children died in the incident. Many women and children still remain missing.
BBC reports that hundreds of people who were injured in the incident are being treated at the hospital. According to the BBC, there was a rush to the place where thousands had gathered to listen to the sermon of a narrator. The cause of the stampede is not clear
