Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday called upon Islamic scholars to spread the message of humanitarian values among people and help them stay away from terrorism, militancy and drug abuse as these are destroying families and societies.
Inaugurating the second batch of 50 model mosques in Bangladesh, Prime Minister Hasina urged the children not to get involved with militancy as it is ‘dishonouring the Islam’. She asked the guardians and teachers to be cautious so that their children and students don’t get involved with militancy.
Prime Minister Hasina said that religion can not be used as a political weapon. She said that the government has taken up the construction of model mosques so that no one can mislead people in the name of Islam alongside creating awareness of the Islamic values. Sheikh Hasina said Islam ensures free exercise of religions by people of all faiths.
She called upon the Islamic religious leaders to sensitise people against drug addiction, child marriage, atrocities on women and corruption through their daily sermons.
Prime Minister Hasina said that it is possible to build a developed, smart and prosperous Bangladesh having equal respect to every religion and with the non-communal spirit.
This is the second batch of 50 model mosques inaugurated by Prime Minister Sheik Hasina in Bangladesh.
Earlier, 50 model mosques were inaugurated in June 2021. The government of Bangladesh has taken up the construction of 564 model mosques at districts, and upazila levels in phases.
