Christmas Day is celebrated as a public holiday across the country to commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ.

Kathmandu. People of this community are celebrating Christmas Day today in memory of the day when Jesus Christ, the founder of Christianity, was born. Jesus Christ was born in Bethlehem, Israel, on December 25, 2,025 years ago. It is said that Jesus Christ, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born to the Virgin Mary, gave three main joys. Believing that he gave salvation, love and peace, the Christian community celebrates this day as all three days. He told that today is celebrated as Love Day for those who came to love people, Peace Day for those who came to establish peace, and Liberation Day for those who came to make peace. Christmas Day, which is celebrated by many people around the world, is celebrated in Nepal as a festival by the Federation after 2063 BS.
A public holiday was given on the occasion of the day from 2063 BS to 2074 BS. On this occasion, from 2075 BS to 2077 BS, only Christians were given a holiday. Starting from 2078 BS, a public holiday has been given to everyone again on this occasion.
