Construction of Sandhikhark-Tamghas transmission line and Tamghas substation completed

Kathmandu. Construction of 132 kilovolt (KV) double circuit transmission line has been completed from Sandhikhark Municipality-6 Fudwang in Arghakhanchi to Resunga Municipality-7, Unaichaur Tamghas in Gulmi.

Besides, construction of 132 KV Tamghas substation has also been completed at Unaichaur under the same transmission line.

The Nepal Electricity Authority said that Sandhikhark-Tamghas 132kV double circuit transmission line and 132kV Tamghas substation were completed and put into operation on Wednesday. There are 132/33 KV, 30 MVA and 33/11 KV, 16 MVA capacity power transformers in the substation. About 200 megawatts of electricity can flow from the transmission line.

3 feeders of 33 KV and four feeders of 11 KV have been constructed from the substation for local power supply. Out of that, 2/2 feeders of 33 and 11 KV have been brought into operation and electricity has been supplied locally, the authority said.

The executive director of the authority Kulman Ghising said that after the operation of the transmission line and substation, mainly the power supply of Gulmi district will be reliable and of high quality, and technical leakage will also be reduced.

“When the 33 KV line was too long, there were problems such as tripping, low voltage, etc. Now, after the 132 KV transmission line and substation start supplying power locally, the problem will be resolved and the power supply will be sufficient, reliable and quality,” he said.

“A tender has been made for a 40 megawatt solar project with electricity flowing through the same transmission line. As other private sector hydropower projects will also be connected, this transmission line is the trunk line of that region.”
