Crisis in Myanmar extended for another 6 months

Agency. Myanmar has extended the emergency period by 6 months. Myanmar’s National Defense and Security Council has extended the state of emergency in the Southeast Asian country for six months.
Acting President U Myint Swe announced the extension of the state of emergency for 6 months at the NDSC meeting. Due to the unusual situation of the country, the deadline has been extended according to Article 425 of the state constitution. In the meeting, it is said that the issues of telecom fraud control, development of the country and promotion of the education sector, preparations for elections and preparations for the national census were also discussed.

Myanmar declared a one-year state of emergency in February 2021. Then it was increased four times till January 31 this year.
