Dhiraj Pratap Singh appointed as new Nepal Police chief

Kathmandu: A Cabinet meeting on Sunday has decided to appoint Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Dhiraj Pratap Singh as the Inspector General of Nepal Police.

Although the Ministry of Home Affairs had recommended AIG Bishwa Raj Pokharel to the post, the Cabinet decided to appoint Singh to the coveted post.

Newly-appointed IGP Singh worked in the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB). AIGs Bishwa Raj Pokharel, Rabindra Dhanuk including Dhiraj Pratap Singh were in the race for Nepal police chief.

But the government has appointed Singh as the new IGP, who was in the third place in terms of seniority .
