Soul. It has been revealed that President Yoon Suk Yeol, who was suspended after martial law was imposed in South Korea, ordered the military to fire if necessary.
Local media reported that the revelation was made in a prosecutor’s report. The 10-page indictment filed against former Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun states that the suspended president ordered the troops to shoot if necessary when entering parliament.
The indictment says that Yeol ordered the troops to open the doors and expel the lawmakers even if it meant shooting.
On December 3, the report also says that Yun said three times that martial law would be imposed if necessary. Earlier this month, South Korea’s National Assembly removed Yeol from office for imposing martial law and causing a political crisis in the country.
The martial law case is currently under investigation.
