Kathmandu. The Nepali team that will be playing the ICC U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup in Malaysia has been bid farewell. The Nepal Cricket Association (CAN) organized a program in Kathmandu on Friday to bid farewell to the team.
Minister of Youth and Sports Tejulal Chaudhary, Vice President of CAN Roshan Singh, Secretary Paras Khadka along with members of CAN and captain of women’s senior team Indu Burma bid farewell to the team with best wishes.
Speaking at the farewell function, CAN Secretary Paras Khadka asked the team to play without any pressure.
Minister Tejulal Chaudhary expressed confidence that despite their young age, they will perform well. She thanked CAN for the work it has been doing recently and said that it is possible to collaborate with schools to produce players from the school level.
Speaking at the event, Pooja Mahato, the U-19 captain, thanked CAN for giving her the role of captain and expressed her commitment to perform well in the World Cup. “We beat Pakistan by playing well in the Asia Cup, now we will try to make history in the World Cup as well. If we play well, anything is possible,” Pooja said.
Coach Mahesh Prasad Rizal also said that they are well prepared for the competition. ‘We trained well in Chitwan as well, we have an opportunity to showcase our capabilities in the World Cup, we hope to perform well,’ said Rijal.
Senior women’s team captain Indu Verma congratulated them on making history by qualifying for the World Cup and wished them a great performance in the World Cup as well.
The Nepali U-19 women’s team will leave for Malaysia on Saturday afternoon.
