Fate Unseen

A Poem by Vatsala Radhakeesoon from Mauritius

Success yells
Dip, dip, dip your soul- Faust!
You pluck the fruits all bright
of quick ladder’ s shady- smooth climb

You’ re ego- struck
Honesty-  deconstruct
You watch the dancing light ,
golden metallic
Up , up the uncompromising go
You disregard the charcoal black
the pit  invisible
down,  not meant for you,
You pride – frown
hold on your foxy smile

The wind- howl
scatters the petals
goggles the earthquake
of prejudice tangled
somewhere you thought unreachable

You fall , fall
Your voice,  fear- croaky,
muffled
Too late!

You  shout , ” Beware! ”
