“Naveen Subba’s film ‘Gaun Aaeko Bato’ has been selected at China’s prestigious Beijing Film Festival.
The construction team released a statement on Friday and informed about it. It is reported that for the first time a Nepali film has been selected for the Beijing Film Festival.
After being selected for the Beijing Film Festival, producer Amod Rai has expressed his happiness through social media.
“We are excited to share the news that our film has been selected for the prestigious ’14th Beijing International Film Festival’ in China. During two decades of stay in Hong Kong, it was a big dream to show our Nepali film stories to the Chinese community, today this dream has been fulfilled. It is the first Nepali film to be selected for the Beijing International Film Festival,’ he wrote.
The film had its world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival and has had its South Asian premiere at Busan International Film Festival, Asian Premiere, MAMI Mumbai.
The film presents the story of Maila (Daya), Miley (Pashupati Rai) and their seven-year-old son Bindre (Prasan Rai) who make a living out of bamboo logs in the Himalayan region of eastern Nepal, and the upheavals and struggles brought by the modern changes that came with the introduction of the motorway.
The screenplay of the film is written by director Subba in collaboration with Mahesh Subba. Produced under the joint banner of Menchyam Figures and Bansuri Films, the movie is produced by Amod Rai and directed by Subba.
This film will be screened from 18th May.
