India’s 100th satellite launch successful

New Delhi- The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) successfully launched its Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV)-F15 rocket carrying the Navigation Satellite NVS-02 on Wednesday morning, officials said. The Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle is used to launch heavy communication satellites.

The GSLV-F15 carrying NVS-02 took off from the Sriharikota launch pad on the coast of the South Indian state of Andhra Pradesh at 6:23 am.

Wednesday’s launch is ISRO’s 100th.

NVS-02 will help in improving navigation, agriculture, emergency services and mobile device location services.

According to ISRO, the first big rocket to take off from Sriharikota was the Satellite Launch Vehicle (SLV) on August 10, 1979.
