Iran and Saudi Arabia to reopen embassies ‘within days’, says Foreign Minister

Iran’s Foreign Minister, Hossein Amirabdollahian, announced on Friday that the embassies of Iran and Saudi Arabia will be reopened ‘within days’. The announcement comes after the two countries agreed to restore relations in March, following a series of events in 2016 that led to the severing of diplomatic ties.

Amirabdollahian made the statement during a press conference in the Lebanese capital of Beirut. He did not provide specific dates for the reopening of the embassies, but the announcement is seen as a positive step towards improving relations between the two countries. Last month, high-ranking security officials from Iran and Saudi Arabia met in Beijing under Chinese auspices and announced the re-establishment of diplomatic relations. This move has been met with surprise by many followers of global politics.

The reopening of embassies is expected to facilitate better communication and cooperation between Iran and Saudi Arabia on a range of issues, including regional security and economic cooperation.
