Lalitpur, the newly appointed Ambassador of Japan to Nepal, Toru Mayda, has said that Japan will continue its economic and technical support for the development of Nepal.
At a reception organized here today by the Nepal JICA Alumni Association (JANA) in honor of the newly appointed Ambassador Maeda, he said that Nepal-Japan relations have been friendly, close and harmonious for a long time.
Ambassador Mayda said, “Currently, about two lakh Nepalis are engaged in various professions and businesses including studying in Japan. There is still a need in Japan for Nepalese manpower who have knowledge of Japanese language, culture and Japan.
Recalling his visit to Nepal many years ago, where he saw the beautiful mountains and hills and received warm love from Nepali citizens wherever he went, Ambassador Maeda expressed his happiness to be coming to Nepal as an ambassador. Mentioning that the members of ‘JAN’ are playing a significant role in smoothing the relations between the two countries, he expressed his belief that the members of JAN will play an important role in smoothing the relations between the two countries and for the development of Nepal in the future.
Dr. Ramchandra Bhusal, the chairman of JANA, the organizing organization, said that JANA has played a significant role in strengthening the relations between Nepal and Japan for the past five decades, introducing Japanese technology to Nepal, and supporting the economic development of the country. In order to expand the relationship between the two countries, the Almanai Association has been providing various support to the rural communities of Lalitpur and Sindhupalchok and handing over seedlings of the famous Japanese tree sakura.
JICA Nepal’s chief resident representative Mizuki Machuzaki, senior government officials, JAN members, high-ranking officials of the Japanese Embassy and JICA Nepal and distinguished people from various fields participated in the welcome program.
