KATHMANDU : The Nepali Congress (NC) has stated that the new government will be formed according to Article 76 (2) of the Constitution of Nepal, even as Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal completes the process of taking a vote of confidence.
Speaking to the media after the NC Parliamentary Party (PP) meeting at the Parliament Building on Saturday, NC Chief Whip Ramesh Lekhak said that a new government will be formed under the leadership of UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli in accordance with Article 76 (2) of the Constitution of Nepal, 2015. He also informed that the meeting decided not to give a vote of confidence to Prime Minister Dahal.
Lekhak mentioned that since the current vote of confidence proposal is under Article 100, there will be no obstacle to forming a government as per Article 76 (2) on the grounds of constitutional provision. “Politically, after the Nepali Congress and UML agreed to form a new government, more than two-thirds of the votes have been gathered against the current government,” he said.
