Kuwait is going to take more 2 lakh Nepalese workers: Foreign Minister Narayankaji Shrestha

 

Kathmandu: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Narayankaji Shrestha has said that there has been a discussion about Kuwait taking two lakh more workers from Nepal.

He said this to reporters at the Tribhuvan International Airport while returning home after participating in the 19th Foreign Ministerial level meeting of the Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) held in Tehran, the Iranian capital, on Tuesday.
In Iran’s capital, Tehran, Kuwait’s Foreign Minister Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya said that 200,000 Nepalese workers will be taken to Kuwait.
There are 100,000 Nepalese workers in Kuwait, and it has been agreed to increase the number to 300,000. He said that Kuwait will open an embassy in Kathmandu this year.
He said that now there are 1 lakh Nepalese in Kuwait and now he has got the information that Kuwait has a target of reaching 3 lakh. He said that Kuwait’s Foreign Minister Abdullah informed that Kuwait will open an embassy in Kathmandu this year.
He said that during the visit, he held bilateral meetings with the Acting Foreign Minister of Iran, the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Myanmar, the Foreign Minister of Bahrain, the Foreign Minister of Kuwait, the Deputy Foreign Minister of Saudi Arabia and the Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia and discussed the issues of cooperation and interests between the two sides.
He claimed that in the meeting with the Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia, there was also a discussion regarding the return of Nepalis who were in the Russian army.
He mentioned that although they have agreed on sending Nepalese back, Russia has informed them that the procedures are still to be made.
During the visit, he had bilateral meetings with the Acting Foreign Minister of Iran, the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Myanmar, the Foreign Minister of Bahrain, the Foreign Minister of Kuwait, the Deputy Foreign Minister of Saudi Arabia and the Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia. Cooperation and interests were also discussed between the two parties.
He said, “During the meeting with the Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia, there was a discussion about the return of Nepalis who are in the Russian army to Nepal.” He has agreed to withdraw the army but said that the modality is yet to be worked out. The process of arranging the compensation of 7 people has been progressed.
