Mayor Balendra Shah leaves for France to attend Cannes Film Festival

Kathmandu – Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balendra Shah left for France today to participate in the 77th edition of Cannes Film Festival.

At the invitation of Cannes Mayor David Lisnard, Mayor Shah flew to France on Tuesday morning to attend the festival. Mayor Shah is accompanied by Management Advisor Kumar Vyanjankar and Infrastructure Advisor Sunil Lamsal.
Cannes and Kathmandu are both member cities of UNESCO’s ‘Creative City’ film category. In the invitation letter sent by the Mayor of Cannes to Chief Shah, it is said, “The Festival is an opportunity to bring the creative city together.” It will be easy to know about the audio-visual content chain that will be conducted on-air in the festival.

Mayor Shah will participate in various events of the festival. During that time, there will be a meeting with Mayor Lisnard and the festival director. The red carpet and premiere events of the festival will be attended by the main participants. The festival will last for 12 days. Mayor Shah will participate in the 3-day program and will return to the country on May 7. .
Although no film from Nepal has been selected for the festival this year, ‘The Seamless’ filmed in Nepal has been selected in the On Regard category and ‘Tara: A Lost Star’ has been selected in the market screening category. Nepali artists and technicians are involved in both of these films.
