Many people are interested in how the island nation of the Indian Ocean, the Maldives, which has not yet strengthened its democracy, will advance its new relationship with China and its traditional relationship with India. Political analysts have said that there will be a diplomatic test of the newly elected President Muhammed Muizzu.
Leader Muizju is known for welcoming Chinese loans and suppressing dissent when he was previously in power.
After being elected as the president of the country, he expressed his opinion at the headquarters of his party and expressed his gratitude to all those who voted for him. President-elect Muizzu urged the government to release former president Abdullah Yameen, who is serving an 11-year prison sentence on corruption charges.
Muizju is currently the mayor of the capital Male. He has a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Leeds, UK.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated Muijju on his victory in the presidency. “Congratulations and best wishes to Mohammed Muizzoo on his election as the President of the Maldives. India is committed to strengthening India-Maldives bilateral relations and enhancing overall cooperation in the Indian Ocean region,” he wrote on social network.RSS
