More than 12 tons of drugs seized in 6 months in Istanbul

More than 12 tonnes of drugs have been seized in operations conducted in Istanbul, Turkey in the first six months of this year.
Istanbul Governor Daut Gul emphasized ongoing efforts to combat drugs and substance abuse in the metropolis, which is home to 16 million people. Gul said that the security forces have conducted around 5,000 operations with the aim of disrupting production and trading activities. About 3 thousand 300 suspects were arrested. Users were also targeted in operations.

During the same period, 30 thousand 360 people were arrested across the city. According to the governor, among the seized drugs were more than 12 tons of drugs, 22.3 million pills and 3,132 roots of marijuana plants.
