NATO expansion into Ukraine ‘unacceptable threat’: Kremlin

The Kremlin has responded that the expansion of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) into Ukraine is an “unacceptable threat” to Russia’s security.Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov gave this response after the joint declaration passed on Wednesday at the NATO summit in Washington stated that “the future of Ukraine lies in NATO.”

“The alliance is actually fully involved in the Ukrainian conflict and its military infrastructure is gradually moving towards the borders of Russia,” Peskov said.

He said that the measures adopted at the summit could threaten Russia’s national security, so he was forced to take appropriate measures to control it.

“For this, we need to make thoughtful, coordinated and effective countermeasures to control NATO,” Peskov said. Agency
