Nepal defeats Maldives by 138 runs in Asian Games

Nepal on Sunday secured a 138-run victory against the Maldives to register their second consecutive win in the Asian Games in Hangzhou. The Rhinos post 213-run target for the Maldives and bundle them out for 74 runs in 19.4 overs to secure quarter-finals berth.

Earlier, Nepal opted to bat first after winning a toss where they scored 212 runs losing 7 wickets in
20 overs. Captain Rohit Poudel contributed 52 runs over 27 balls and Kushal Malla was unbeaten
at 47 runs from 20 balls.

Likewise Kushal Burtel and Gulsan Jha contributed 35-35 runs , Binod Bhandari 16 , Sandeep
Jora 5, Dipendra Singh Airee and Ashif Sheikh added 6-6 runs.

Nepali Bowlers were the reason for the victory over Maldives. Aninash Bohora took 6 wickets of Maldives. Sompal Kami, Sandeep Lamichhane, Gulsan Jha and Kushal Bhurtel took 1 -1 wicktes. With this, Nepal has reached quarter final.

In the first match, Nepal had defeated Mongolia by 273 runs in the first match. Maldives had defeated Mongolia by 9 wickets on their first match in the tournament.
