Kathmandu. Nepal has entered the finals of the KAVA Women’s Volleyball Nations League held in Kathmandu After defeating Iran in straight sets in the second semi-final held today, Nepal has confirmed its meeting with India in the final.
Nepal won the first set 25-21 in the competitive semi-final held at Dasharath Stadium in Tripureshwar, Kathmandu. Nepal made a winning start by consistently leading from the beginning.
In the competitive second set, Nepal led 8-5 and 16-13, but Iran came back and equalized with 19 points. Nepal won the second set 28-26, saving set points twice when Usha Bhandari made a great spike at the end.
Captain Aruna Shahi and Saraswati Choudhary performed well in attacking to give Nepal victory. Although trailing 10-13 at the beginning of the third set, Nepal advanced with a 17-17 draw. In the end, Nepal won 25-20 and secured the place in the final.
Two-time central zone volleyball champion Nepal has reached the final for the first time in the league held at home. In the previous edition of the Kava Nations League, Nepal was eliminated in the semi-finals. Although Nepal lost to Iran in the league stage, they beat Sri Lanka, India and Maldives to reach the semi-finals.
