Kathmandu: Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz PLM-N and Pakistan Peoples Party PPP have agreed to form an alliance for government formation in Pakistan.
These two parties, who have formed a coalition government before, have agreed to continue the coalition. According to BBC, an agreement was reached between PLM-N Chairman Shehbaz Sharif and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto and Asif Ali Zardari at Bilawal House in Lahore.
In the statement issued after the agreement, it is mentioned that PLM-N and PPP have agreed in principle to exchange political support. In the elections held four days ago, an independent candidate supported by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf PTI, the party of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, won the maximum number of 93 seats.
PML-ANL won 75 seats and PPP won 54 seats. There are 366 seats in the National Assembly of Pakistan.
Out of which 266 seats have been elected and the remaining 70 seats are reserved. At least 134 seats elected through direct elections are required to form the government. Also, this party has alleged institutional fraud in the election.
