Plains of Northwest India continue to be in the grip of severe cold day conditions. India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts cold to severe cold day conditions and dense to very dense fog over the plains of Northwest India during the next four days.
It said an extended dense fog layer has been recorded over Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, North Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh last night.
IMD said that very dense fog was reported over Amritsar, Chandigarh, Patiala, Ambala, Ganganagar, Palam, Safdarjung, and Lucknow with zero-meter visibility this morning.
The Weather agency predicted the minimum temperatures will be in the range of 3 to 7 degrees Celsius over most parts of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, north Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Bihar for the next few days.
The fog condition will prevail for a few hours in the night and morning in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand.
Passengers on highway advice need to drive extremely carefully and only with fog lights. People driving on expressways may halt their journey until the fog reduces or clears visibility.
