Kathmandu. A meeting is being held with the top leaders to finalize the terms of reference (ToR) of the Parliamentary Committee to be formed to investigate the Cooperative Fraud Case. The meeting was called to be held at Baluwatar after 9 am.
Member of Parliament Jeevan Pariyar, who is also the joint general minister of Nepali Congress, will hold a discussion in Baluwatar between Chairman Sher Bahadur Deuba, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachand’ and CPN UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli. Earlier on Saturday, the meeting of the working group and then the meeting of the top leaders were held but no agreement was reached.
According to Pariyar, a member of the task force, after the meeting of the task force on Saturday afternoon, a discussion was held between the top leaders along with all the members of the task force at the Prime Minister’s official residence, Baluwatar. Prime Minister Prachanda, UML President Oli, Congress Vice President Purna Bahadur Khadka and other working group members were present in the meeting. In the meeting, Congress proposed that the managing director of Gorkha Media should be mentioned instead of Lamichhane’s name, but the ruling party did not agree, Pariyar said. He said, “We have raised the point that there should be an investigation about the cooperative directors, Gorkha Media Network and other companies, its board officers, managing directors and other necessary employees.” There was no agreement on that.’
Earlier, in the meeting of the working group, the government agreed to proceed with the investigation by mentioning the names of the cooperatives that were defrauded and the names of the loan companies. The meeting of the House of Representatives and the National Assembly have been called at 11:30 a.m. today.
