Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responded that he was ready for any defensive and offensive situation.
Netanyahu’s comments came after Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah warned that the Lebanese armed group was forced to respond to the killing of its top military commander, Fuad Shouk, in an Israeli attack on a Beirut suburb on Thursday.
“Israel is highly prepared for any scenario, both defensive and offensive, and we will pay a high price for any offensive action against us. In the statement, Netanyahu said, “Whoever attacks us, we will attack in response.”
Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh was killed in an attack in Tehran on Wednesday. Iran and Hamas blamed Israel for the attack. Israel has refused to comment on his murder.
“You don’t know which red line you have crossed,” Nasrallah said in his address to Israel in a speech broadcast at Shukra’s funeral. “The enemy and those behind the enemy must wait for our inevitable response.”
