Washington DC. Newly elected US President Donald Trump has announced the appointment of former national security adviser and retired Lt. General Keith Kellogg as the special envoy for Russia-Ukraine affairs. Kellogg is expected to play a key role in the negotiations to end the war in Ukraine. Trump vowed to end the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine on the very day he took office.
However, he did not give further details on how he would stop the war. Kellogg has been a supporter of the idea that Russia and Ukraine should have tough talks to end the war. Kellogg also co-authored a research paper published by the America First Policy Institute, a pro-Trump think tank. He offered some suggestions for ending the war.
Earlier this month, in an interview with Fox News, Kellogg said the biggest challenge, especially in Trump’s second term, will be ending the war. Kellogg’s proposal was to put pressure on Ukraine to join peace talks with Russia, and in that case to provide US support to Kiev. He was of the opinion that if Russia does not join the peace talks, Washington should increase its aid to Kiev. Agency
