Russia accused the United States on Thursday of being behind a drone attack on the Kremlin, which Russia claims was an attempt to kill President Vladimir Putin. White House national security spokesperson John Kirby also said that the Russian claims were false, and that Washington does not encourage or enable Ukraine to strike outside its borders.
Russia has said with increasing frequency that it sees the United States as a direct participant in the war. The United States denies that, saying it is arming Ukraine to defend itself and retake territory that Moscow has seized illegally in more than 14 months of war.
Earlier, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky also denied the Russian allegations. The Russian President’s office said, drones targeting the complex were disabled by electronic radar assets, and added that President Putin was not in the complex at the time of the alleged attack.
