Agency. In Ireland, the 37-year-old leader Simon Harris is going to become the Prime Minister. As the new leader of the ruling party “Fine Gael” is sure to be elected, Ireland will get a young prime minister. Harris, the minister of higher education of the current government, will probably become the country’s prime minister next month. He is replacing the current prime minister, Leo Varadkar.
After Varadkar announced that he would leave the post of party leader and prime minister last Wednesday, Ireland’s ruling party started the process of selecting a new leader. After the deadline for filing nominations on Sunday, Harris was the only candidate to be nominated, and he will become the leader of the party and Prime Minister by unanimous vote.
Current Prime Minister Varadkar responded that he had resigned for “personal and political reasons” and that he was not the best person to lead the country.
