SOLITUDE OF PALM
A Poem Composed by Ranjit K Sahu
Standing erect over the sun kissed fields
On a summer day it greets passersby
Loads of berries from its hard core it yields
In the heat as the terrain burns out dry
Tired souls surely find no shade or solace
Under the spreading crown of thorny fronds
Delusions of company fill its space
Every time a man makes and breaks his bonds
Of lonely hours are made its summer days
From dawn to dusk it searches for a friend
Passersby stop a while and walk away
And each day gifts loneliness in the end
Life is tough but it still stands tall and firm
Making solitude its existence’s charm
