Kathmandu. The South Asian conference is being held in Kathmandu in collaboration with the Indian Association of Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (IAGES) and the Society of Surgeons of Nepal (SSN). The conference will continue from January 30th to February 2nd at Nepal Medicity Hospital and Hyatt Regency Kathmandu. More than 2000 doctors from India and Nepal are participating in the conference.
The conference was organized with the aim of sharing knowledge about the latest progress, trends and challenges in the field of minimal invasive surgery, robotic surgery and endoscopy. Subhas Aggarwal said.
Dr. Agrawal said that the participation and exchange of knowledge of renowned experts, innovators and surgeons from all over the world will help in collaborating on cutting-edge research and promoting development in this field.
The doctors from India praised the GI surgery performed by telescope technology in Nepal Medicity, especially the complex surgery of hernia, laparoscopic fundopilician, colorectal and gall bladder, appendix is at the level of India.
So far, more than 8,000 surgeries have been performed using binocular technology from both surgery units in Nepal Medicity, former president of SSA and senior surgeon of Nepal Medici Hospital, Dr. Sunil Kumar Sharma said.
In addition to gallbladder, appendix, CBD stones, fundoplication liver, stomach gist, colon cancer, GL neoplastic cases are all performed laparoscopically. In Nepal Medicity, other stomach cancers are also treated with lab assistant surgery, while GLST tumors are treated with the appointment technique, laparoscopic and endoscopic techniques.
Here, ERCP, endoscopic ultrasound are used to detect cancer and discuss it in the tumor board and all cancers are treated. Similarly, surgery is performed without any shortage of facilities in cancer treatment by performing mandatory frozen section for surgery.
Various workshops were organized at Nepal Medicity Hospital where the participating doctors were given paper presentations, various learning activities as well as FALS Hernia Fellowship, FIAGES Fellowship, EFIAGES Fellowship.
In the conference, the future of surgery, insights into the future of surgery, robotics, augmented reality, artificial intelligence in surgery and the search for transformative innovations such as advanced laparoscopic techniques were discussed.
Dr. Sharma will give an honorary fellowship at the conference, and Dr. Sharma will deliver a special address in one of the two main orations of this conference.
