Kathmandu: The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Nepal hosted the 2024 K-Pop World Festival at the Nepal Academy Hall in Kamaladi on July 6. This annual event, which began in 2011 in Changwon, South Korea, aims to enhance global understanding of Korean culture through Hallyu content.
This year’s preliminary round in Nepal, conducted online from June 10 to June 23, saw over 30 participating teams. Twelve teams were selected for the final round in three categories: Dance Group, Dance Solo, and Vocal. The winners announced on July 6 include Aurelia (Best Dance Group), Smart Sunuwar (Best Solo Dance), and Anjali Nepali (Best Vocal), who will have their performance videos sent to Korea for the final evaluation.
Korean Ambassador to Nepal, Park Tae Young, expressed his gratitude to the participants and audience, highlighting the growing influence of Korean culture in Nepal through K-Pop, K-dramas, K-Beauty, and fashion. He emphasized on strengthening cultural ties between Korea and Nepal.
