Spain beats host Germany in semi-finals

 

Kathmandu. Spain has entered the semi-finals of Euro 2024 after defeating the host Germany 2-1 in extra time. After Mikel Merino scored the decisive goal at the end of the extra time, Spain has set a trip to the last four. Germany’s goal of defeating Spain in the main tournament after 36 years could not be fulfilled this time. In the first quarter-final in Stuttgart, Dani Olmo scored a pass from Lamin Yamal in the 51st minute and gave Spain the lead.
While Spain was moving towards victory, Florin Witz scored the equalizer for Germany in the 89th minute after a pass from Joshua Kimmich, bringing the game to an exciting state.
30 minutes of extra time was added after that. Where Mikel Merino scored a goal in the 119th minute on a pass from Dani Olmo and gave Spain a 2-1 victory. Spain’s Daddi Carvajal was sent off with a red card in the injury time of extra time.
Both Spain and Germany have won the Euros 3 times each. Germany’s dream of winning the title at home remained incomplete as they could not take advantage of the opportunities at home. Spain is on its way to winning the fourth title. Spain will now take on the winner of the match between Portugal and France in the semi-finals.
