Windhoek, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has become the first woman to be elected as the President of the African country Namibia. Previously, Nandi-Ndaitwah was holding the position of Vice President.
She is a member of the ruling party South West Africa People’s Organization. In the presidential election, she got more than 57 percent of the votes, while her rival Panduleni Itula got 26 percent of the votes.
However, Panduleni Etula denied the results of the election on Saturday, alleging that Ndaitwah’s party rigged the election process. According to a Namibian newspaper, most of the opposition parties in Windhoek, the capital of Namibia, boycotted the election results on Tuesday evening.
