Kathmandu: On the first day of the third investment conference, which started today, the opening session and various sessions are being conducted to honor the guests who participated in the conference. Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” inaugurated the conference, Finance Minister Varshman Pun gave a welcome speech and the logo of the conference was displayed.
Materials including video messages related to the investment conference have been placed in the exhibition. Chairman of the main opposition party Nepali Congress and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and representatives of the private sector are also scheduled to give their speeches at the opening session. During the opening session, there is a program to sign some important project agreements and announce investments.
During the thematic discussion session of the conference, there is a program of ‘Investment opportunities in Nepal’, ‘Success stories of investment in Nepal’, ‘Presentation of projects for the letter of intent’
In the session on ‘Investment opportunities in Nepal’, Finance Minister Varshman Pun, former Finance Minister Dr. Prakasharan Mahat, Dr. Yuvraj Khatiwada, former Finance Secretary Rameshwar Khanal, United Nations Office for Nepal representative Hana Singer and others will be speakers.
In the session on ‘Investment success stories in Nepal’, speakers including Chief Secretary Dr. Vaikunth Aryal, former president of Nepal Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Bhawani Rana, former executive head of Investment Board, Radhesh Pant, will express their opinions.
Invited guests can have a meeting with Prime Minister Dahal at the conference venue. Likewise, at the end of today’s session, there will be an exhibition of foreign direct investment and government-private partnership projects.
On the second day of the conference, Finance Minister Pun will discuss with the representatives of the development partners, while the first session will be a discussion session on the topic of ‘Renewable Energy in Nepal’.
In that session, the speakers include Shakti Bahadur Basnet, Minister of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Dinesh Kumar Ghimire, Secretary of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supply, Kulman Ghising, Executive Director of Nepal Electricity Authority, Ganesh Karki, Chairman of Independent Energy Producers Association (IPPAN).
Nepal Rastra Bank Governor Maha Prasad Adhikari in the session on ‘Innovative Economic Scenario’, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha in the session on ‘Investment Opportunities in Green and Climate Adaptation Businesses in Nepal’, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Physical Infrastructure and Transport Raghuveer Mahaseth in the session on ‘Transport Upstream Reform’, National Yojana Ayo member Prada Sangita Singh, Kathmandu University Vice Chancellor Prada Bhola Thapa and Professor Dr. Sureshraj Acharya are among the speakers.
A parallel debate session will also be conducted at the conference. Chairman of the ruling CPN (UML) and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli will address the closing session, while Finance Minister Pun is scheduled to deliver the closing speech.(Edited)Restore original
