The court will sentence Trump to prison before he is sworn in as president

Washington DC.Before the newly elected President of the United States, Donald Trump, will be sentenced by the American court. A few days before taking the oath of office for the second term in the White House, a court in New York is going to sentence him on criminal charges.

New York-based Criminal Court Judge Juan Marchan issued an 18-page written decision and ordered Trump to face sentencing on January 10 in person or by sending a representative to receive his sentence.

Marchan has been accused of lying about “hush money” payments made during Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign. His business records revealed 34 suspicious transactions.

Since the end of his first term in January 2021, Trump has been plagued by several legal issues. He has denied wrongdoing on all counts.

There were four criminal charges, one for concealing confidential documents while out of office, two and three for attempting to overturn the 2020 election, and a fourth for making hush money payments.

The hush money case centered on $130,000 paid to adult film star Stormy Daniels after allegations that she and Trump had an affair.

The accusers are arguing that Trump tried to hide the payments through his former lawyer, Michael Cohen, in order to avoid press damage during the 2016 election.

The association with the election has raised the legal threat against him, “Ordinarily, falsifying business records is only a misdemeanor, but it can be a serious crime if the intent to defraud is connected to another potential crime,” Marchan said.

Trump had called for the conviction to be overturned during his successful campaign for re-election in November. He is scheduled to be sentenced on January 10, at his inauguration on January 20. Agency
