Kathmandu The government has said that it is trying to bring the social network Tiktok into legal scope.
In the Development, Economic Affairs and Good Governance Committee meeting held at Singh Darbar on Thursday, Government Spokesperson and Minister of Communication and Information Technology Rekha Sharma said that there is a problem with the content of Tiktok and not the name of Tiktok.
She said that there will be no restrictions on Tiktok if it is registered and operated based on the legal system of Nepal.
Sharma said that she had a discussion with the representative of Facebook only on Wednesday and emphasized that it should be done according to Nepal’s rules and laws. He informed that the next cabinet meeting will send the social media bill to the parliament and then pass it after a comprehensive discussion.
He also said that the government has emphasized on the implementation of the right to information to promote government reforms and good governance in the public management of Nepal.
Similarly, Sharma mentioned that attention has been given to inter-ministerial coordination and monitoring as well as easy access to information for the citizens for the implementation of the Act on Right to Information. He said that the contribution of the parliament, political parties and media is important for promoting good governance.
