The rescue of 35 Nepali hostages in Kashmir, India

New Delhi. 35 Nepalis who were taken hostage from Nepal to Indian Kashmir for labor have been rescued. Nepalese laborers from Sarlahi, Mahottari, Dhanusha were taken to Jammu by the contractor for a daily wage of 1100 (Nepali Rupees). However, they were taken to Srinagar Budgang in Kashmir.
There Indian contractors were employing Nepali workers through labor exploitation and torture. According to the affected workers, even food was not given to them. Beatings and inhumane treatment became routine. They were not paid for three months, kept locked up, and were subjected to strict surveillance. Ranjit Choudhary, the victim laborer of Dhanusha, said that everyone’s mobile phone was taken away.
Saroj Rai of Sarlahi, who is involved in social work, took the initiative to rescue after this information reached Sarlahi. Navin Joshi, head of Kin India, said that workers were rescued from Kashmir and brought to Delhi in coordination with the Nepali Embassy in Delhi and the Kin India organization.
Most of the people who were rescued are 23 from Mahottari District. 6 are minors.
