Jumla– The study team has reached here to put the Sinja civilization of Jumla, the birthplace of the Nepali ‘Khas’ language, on the list of world heritage.
Chairman of Sinja Rural Municipality Purna Prasad Dhital informed that the team of the Central Archeology Department has reached here and is studying and discussing with the local people about the basis necessary to place it in the World Heritage List.
The team of the Department of Archeology is discussing the history, present and future of the Sinja civilization with the local people. He said, “The team led by the Director General of the department, Saubhagya Pradhan, has reached the Sinja Valley and started studying.” According to Chairman Dhital, the team has started discussing about the civilizations in the Hima, Sinja and Kanakasundari rural municipalities of this region.
“The team of the Department of Archeology in Sinja Rural Municipality has arrived in Jumla for the first time”, Pradhanang said, “In the first stage, discussions have been held with the representatives of the local government, the local government and the concerned agencies regarding the inclusion of Sinja in the World Heritage List.”
Stating that everyone has suggested that Sinja be included in the World Heritage List, he stressed the need to stop the destruction of ancient civilizations in the name of modern development. The Department of Archaeology is preparing to include 15 new areas of the country in the World Heritage List.
There are also 22 temples of Sinja civilization of Karnali province and Dulluk of Dailekh. Director General of the department Pradhanang says that the department has started the work of including Sinja in the World Heritage List. Sitli Rokaya, the vice president of the rural municipality, said that initiatives have been initiated with the department to put Sinja on the World Heritage List.
