The magazine Apollo, which is regularly publishing on art, has announced ‘The Story of Drawing: An Alternative History of Art’ as the book of the year.
The magazine described this book by Susan Owens as being more informative than many other books published in 2024.
Also, when digging into the art history of the ancient times, Apollo magazine pointed out the fact that sometimes even the painted walls become art and it can be glorified. Since Owens studied all those things and published a book, we have considered this book as the Book of the Year.
The book traces the history of art creation 13,000 years ago and reveals how it paved the way for creation.
This 15-chapter world history of art explores the antiquities of Europe, China, and Japan, and the heights achieved by the art world in the 17th century.
Owens is an art historian himself. He has curated many paintings and other art media, so his book is meticulous, writes Tim Smith Laing.
Apollo magazine also selected five other books as the best books of this year. Among them are the books All That Glitters, OT Burger: Weaving for Modernist Architecture, The Embedded Portrait, Melancholy Wedgwood and Architecture in Great Britain and Ireland, 1530-1830.
