The US is ready to help Nepal in the field of cyber security and tourism information

KATHMANDU, American Ambassador to Nepal Dean Thomson had a courtesy meeting with Minister of Communication and Information Technology Prithbi subba Gurung.

In the meeting, Ambassador Thomson said that the US government is ready to help Nepal for the development and expansion of the information technology sector. Thomson said that the development of the information technology sector is necessary for the prosperity of Nepal.

Thomson said that technology can be used in natural disasters to obtain advance information about the disaster. He said that it will facilitate security as well as search and rescue. He said that the United States is ready to help Nepal in the fields of cyber security, tourism information, etc.

He is of the opinion that if Nepal can develop the field of information technology, it will be possible to stop the young people from going abroad. He said that Nepal will be able to earn a lot of foreign exchange from this.

During the discussion, Minister Gurung said the current government’s goal is peace and prosperity. He informed that Nepal is ready to cooperate with US in the field of information and technology.

Stating that Nepal is suffering from natural calamities, Gurung said that communication is necessary for the rescue and search during mountain climbing. Stating that Nepal has made a big leap in the communication sector, he said that it is still not enough. He is of the view that communication sector should be linked with income generation and employment
