Today is the 2568th Buddha Jayanti

Kathmandu. The 2568th birth anniversary of Siddhartha Gautama, who is known to the world as the harbinger of peace, is being celebrated today by worshiping, worshiping and preaching the Buddha who was born as the ninth incarnation of Lord Vishnu.
Buddha Jayanti is celebrated every year on the full moon day of Baisakh. This festival is celebrated as a remembrance of the contribution made by Siddhartha Gautama for the establishment of world peace.
As Buddha’s birth, enlightenment, Mahaparinirvana (death) falls on the full moon day of Vaishakh, on this day, Buddhists around the world, including Nepal, celebrate Buddha Jayanti with deep respect and devotion to Buddha.
The 2568th birth anniversary of Lord Gautama Buddha, the bearer of many age-old messages such as ‘non-violence is the cornerstone of peace and friendship’, is going to be celebrated across the country today, wishing for peace.
By Buddhists, lamas and Buddhist religious leaders sit in chaityas, monasteries, viharas, etc., and complete the traditional rituals including worship. The government has called upon common people to celebrate Buddha Jayanti by celebrating Diwali in the evening at home. On this occasion, there is a tradition of celebrating Buddha Jayanti by organizing various programs in places like Lumbini, Swayambhu, and Buddh. Siddhartha Gautama was born in Lumbini Udyan in Rupandehi district in 563 BC i.e. 2568 years ago from the womb of father King Suddhodhan and mother Mayadevi on the full moon of Baisakh full moon.
Siddhartha Gautama, who was born as a prince, became worried by the suffering of the people. At the age of 29, he left the palace and set out to do penance.
