UN objection to Israel’s warning to attack Rafah in Gaza

The UN has strongly objected to Israel’s warning of an attack on Gaza’s Rafah town.

Sigrid Kag, the UN’s senior humanitarian relief coordinator for Gaza, said it would be a “catastrophic event” if Rafah were to be invaded. He warned Israel not to take such a decision saying that there are only one million refugees in Rafah and millions of people including locals are living there.

According to the UN agency, Israel is conducting a military operation in the hospital. The United Nations has objected to Israel’s military operation at Nasir Hospital in Khan Yunis.

More than 28,000 people have been killed in the ongoing Gaza offensive by Israel since Hamas attacked Israel on October 7.
