Kathmandu. United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres is going to come to Nepal on October 12. Earlier, Guterres’s visit to Nepal was postponed due to changes in the international political situation, although he was scheduled to come on October 26.
Guterres is going to visit Nepal on a four-day visit at the invitation of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’. Although he is scheduled to come to Nepal, the programs in his presence are yet to be finalized. According to the Prime Minister’s Secretariat, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will set the agenda.
Guterres’ visit to Nepal scheduled for 26 to 29 October was canceled after the Palestinian militant group Hamas attacked Israel. The postponed visit is scheduled to be held again from 12 to 15 October.
Guterres is going to come to Nepal after accepting the invitation given by the Prime Minister of Nepal Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda during the UN General Assembly.
“Prachanda” discussed the peace process of Nepal in the United Nations, the impact of climate change and the role of other countries for the organization of underdeveloped countries and its upgradation.
It is said that Guterres will discuss these issues with Nepal’s stakeholders. Similarly, in his presence, the effects of climate change will be discussed and he will be given an aerial observation of the Everest region.
Guterres is likely to address Nepal’s federal parliament and parliamentary committee, according to the Prime Minister’s Secretariat.
