The US State Department has informed Congress about the plan to sell weapons worth 8 billion dollars to Israel, according to international media. There is a provision that the House or Senate must approve the shipment of weapons.
In this way, the weapons that are going to be sold to Israel include air attack missiles, Hellfire missiles and artillery shells and other war materials in the new technology shipments. Washington has also rejected the demand to suspend military support for Israel due to the deaths of civilians during the war in Gaza.
Only last August, the US gave Israel permission to sell 20 billion dollars worth of fighter jets and other military equipment. US President Biden has said that they will continue the necessary assistance for Israel’s defense. The United States is by far the largest arms supplier to Israel. According to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute, between 2019 and 2023, America accounted for 69 percent of Israel’s major conventional arms imports.
