US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has reached in Beijing on a two-day visit. Having postponed a February trip after a suspected Chinese spy balloon flew over US airspace, Blinken is the highest-ranking US government official to visit China since President Joe Biden took office in January 2021. US officials said, the main goal of the talks is to stabilise a relationship that has become extremely tense.
According to State Department officials, Blinken’s primary goal in China is to reestablish channels of communication, especially direct military-to-military communication, between Washington and Beijing.
